Sandwich is slices of bread placed in between with some fillings. The history of sandwich goes back long to  Europe in the 18 th century. Since then, it has taken a lot of diversifications. It is found to be an ideal meal for lunch box or picnics, easy to eat and no much mess. Moreover, it involves less work for the mothers. My post of no cook ideas can be read here.

Today various kind of sandwiches are made.Plain , grilled, vegetable , toast  and double decker sandwich. Different kinds of fillings are used to make it tasty . This post is part of my blog hop with the theme “Sandwiches”  I will be presenting to you two varieties of sandwich. My earlier sandwich post can be read here. Vada pav, an all time favourite, can be read here .

Open Sandwich

This is another kind of recipe that has gained much popularity. My kids love this version. It is the kind which we often find at bakeries and sell like hot cakes.

INGREDIENTS :

  • bread 1 loaf

  • onion 3

  • sweetcorn kernels 1 bowl

  • green chilli 4

  • cumin 1/4 tsp

  • oil 2tsp

  • turmeric powder1/4tsp

  • butter 2tbsp

TO MAKE :

The  vegetable fry:

Chop the onions finely Take  oil in a pan and heat it. Add cumin, then add the green chillies and onion Add turmeric powder and let cook for a while. Add salt. Now, add the corn kernels and let cook for some time. Keep aside.

Assembling :

Heat a skillet, take two slices of bread and smear a little butter. Lightly roast them on one side. Flip over to the other side and smear some vegetable fry over it. Allow to roast well. Serve hot.

Take a tip :

Carrots along with onion and tomatoes too tastes great.
