Preparing the lunch for the office or school is one of the prominent work that we have on daily basis. Oh! It is a dilemma to decide the dish  daily. This “X” dish does not taste good in the box, “Y”  dish is liked by one child, while the other detests, are some of the cribbings we often hear. Somehow, we have learnt to balance things.  Here are 15 lunch box ideas that you can use on a daily basis.  I usually packed chapati and sabzi. Rice had to be some kind of prepared dish, not the usual dal or rasam. Do take a peep below.

Here are a few recipes that you can pack for the lunch box.

Sesame rice : Grind the paste and keep it in the refrigerator. Saute it and then mix along with prepared rice. It can be done in thirty minutes.

Diwali is one of the important festivals that we celebrate. It is a festival which everyone looks forward to, four days of relaxation, festive atmosphere, array of sweets and savoury, pooja and celebrations with near and dear ones and not to miss the bursting of crackers! This year Diwali starts on October 17.

I thought of making  a mega collection of sweets and savoury for Diwali. I approached my blogger friends on facebook and all were enthusiastic about it. Krishna Janamasthami is one of the most important festivals celebrated in India and all over the world. It marks the birth of Lord Krishna and is celebrated on the eight day  of the dark fortnight in the month of Shravan.  Lord Krishna is believed to be the eigth incarnation of Vishnu and  is worshipped with utmost devotion. Fasting, pooja, rituals, songs and bhajans, sweets and savoury offerings  are all observed during this festival with utmost enthusiasm and devotion.

Usually aval payasa or aval ( rice flakes) mixed with coconut is offered to the Lord as Krishna was fond of poha.

Summer delights collective post

Everyone dreads summer. The three months looks too long, frequent power cuts, scorching heat, water problem and not to mention, it is vacation time, with kids at home. Cooking seems tedious. I have compiled some of the recipes from the blog here as ” Summer Delights“. I hope you like this effort of mine.

Here are a few tips to beat the heat this summer:

  • Drink plenty of water. The body dehydrates due to excessive heat, sweating and urination.
  • Avoid deep-fried food, especially in the afternoon.
  • Take more fruits and vegetables.
  • Cucumber, one can eat plenty of it. It consists 90% of water.
  • Consume seasonal fruits, they are easier to get and cheaper. Watermelon, grapes, mangoes, oranges are available in plenty.
  • Go easy on banana. It is healthy ad packed with nutrition.
  • Yoghurt, lassi, buttermilk are your friends, keep away from aerated drinks.

 

One can make a slight variation to their regular meals. Here are few recipes that you can consider as Summer Delights.
